Meet D!
“FSC is the best. Every person I have talked to–especially Jessica–has been the best. Jessica is there for me 24/7 answering all of my questions and putting me at ease. I cannot wait to work with her again. She truly is the best!”
Q. What led you to become an Egg Donor?
When both of my best friends became pregnant at the same time, I began to really reflect upon myself and my own fertility. Having never wanted children myself, I could only think about all of the women and families that had a difficult time with their fertility and how difficult the decision to go with a donor must have been. I knew that this was something that I could do, and to me the decision was so easy. It seemed to natural and wonderful to be able to give a family a child.
Q. Who was your largest support person(s) throughout your journey?
My boyfriend Kyle and my friends Melissa, Courtney, Stephanie, Gina, Caryn, Amanda, and my girl Jessica from FSC were the most amazing group of supporters. They were always asking questions on how I was feeling emotionally and physically, and always wanted to make sure that I was ok with everything going on. Kyle gave me all of my shots and was so calm and professional about it when I was a sobbing mess. I could not have done this without them.
Q. What made you decide to be closed/semi-open/open with your Intended Parents?
For me, this is the end of my journey with each cycle. For the IPs, it’s the beginning of theirs. I do not want to be a part of their family or anything else that happens with them, because I want to just give. I want their story to go on and on and for their lives to grow and flourish, and mine will as well, but I would rather remain as the fairy godmother glittering in the distance. :]
Q. Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming an Egg Donor?
DO IT. Do it, do it, do it. The support you get from FSC and your case manager is everything you need. Any question you have; they are there for you. The whole process for you is easy and everything is taken care of. You are taken care of. You will be uncomfortable for about 2 weeks, but the feeling you get afterwards is absolutely amazing. You feel like a superhero. But some advice: 1. The shots are really not that bad. Some may hurt a little more than others but that’s temporary. 2. Not being able to work out sucks. It really does. But it’s temporary. 3. Don’t worry about legal or taxes. Again, everything is taken care of.
