What led you to become an Egg Donor?
God blessed me with two beautiful children, and for a long time I wanted to become an egg donor, but the timing was never right. One day God laid it on my heart and said, “It’s time.” Helping others and seeing and hearing how happy the intended parents are when they have a successful retrieval is honestly the best feeling. Knowing you helped someone who has prayed for so long for this miracle, and when you get to be a part of it too, it’s just even more beautiful!
Who was the most significant support person(s) throughout your journey?
My husband, hands down. He was with me for every appointment, he was by my side for every injection, and during my gosh awful mood swings the week of the retrieval. I couldn’t have made it without him by my side!
How did you choose which type of egg donation you’d like (closed/open/semi-open)? Why did you choose this type?
We chose to do an open donation because we know that in the future, said child could try to find me anyway. We did open because we would love to see how happy the new family is with their new little one one day.
What advice would you offer to someone who is interested in becoming an egg donor?
Just do it! You will absolutely not regret it whatsoever.
Do you know the outcome of your donation? How do you feel about the outcome?
I do know that they ended up with a lot of embryos! And for that, I am so grateful and thankful [that] I was able to be a part of it!
How do you feel about your experience working with Family Source Consultants?
FSC has been amazing, especially my case manager; she is hands down the best, and she truly is a star. Throughout my journey, she answered random texts, calls, and emails from me with some crazy questions, but she was there, and she answered at any given time! She made the process smooth and easy.
Is there anything else you’d like to share regarding your experience as an egg donor?
It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever gotten to do!
