| My name is Laura and I have the privilege of being a full-time wife and mommy – a life long dream of mine! My whole life all I ever wanted was to grow up and have a family, so of course you can imagine my delight when 2 years after marrying my college sweetheart, we found out we were expecting our first baby! A few years, and 3 breezy pregnancies later, our family is beautiful and complete!My journey to helping create a family has been years in the making. Back when I was pregnant with my first child, I had a close family member who had been struggling with infertility for several years. I remember looking at her and her sweet husband and thinking what fantastic parents they would make. At the time, I told my husband, “Man, I just wish I could do it FOR them!” I knew nothing about Surrogacy at the time, but it just seemed like there should be a way I could help, since pregnancy had come so easily to me.
Fast forward about 10 years – our family was officially complete and I got a very interesting phone call! My mother’s first cousin (52 years old at the time) was going to be a Surrogate for her own daughter! I was amazed and thought it was absolutely wonderful that she would do such a thing. For me, that’s what I needed to get the ball rolling for myself. With my husband’s full support, I decided to bite the bullet and start researching. It wasn’t long before I came across the website for Family Source. I have some specific beliefs and convictions about pregnancy and was afraid that might make it difficult to find me a match, but Zara assured me that there was a match for me out there, and that they would find it! Sure enough, it wasn’t long before I was matched with the perfect set of parents who actually had the exact same beliefs and convictions that I had! What a blessing! We talked on the phone, and I knew right away that I wanted to help this family. So far the pregnancy has gone beautifully! Baby girl is growing perfectly and is extremely active! I’m currently about 5 months along, due to deliver in late October/early November and I’m so thrilled that I have the privilege of helping this family! Being a Surrogate has been an indescribable experience for me, and I’ll never forget it! |
