My name is Gina and I’m 31 years old.  I am from Racine, WI and have been married for 11 years to my husband Eric. We have three great kids: Hunter-12, Tanner-9 and Mykenna-7.m Before I even really knew what it was like to be a mom or have my kids I watched my two aunts struggle with infertility. At a young age and hearing only tidbits of information at family gatherings, I could still sense the heartache, pain, frustration, and stress of wanting to be a mom so badly. It was when I became a mom for the first time that I truly understood the meaning and the immense joy. It was then that I also thought about how so easily at a young age I had gotten pregnant without a struggle, had an easy pregnancy and that so many women had so much difficulty and it wasn’t fair, thoughts that would surface again years later.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I knew Surrogacy was something I was going to want to pursue and said that to my husband.  He was and has been extremely supportive throughout it all. After our daughter was born, we both knew our family was complete and I brought up the Surrogacy plan again.

After approximately two years of thinking of doing Surrogacy and agency research and reading discussion boards, I made the decision to become a Surrogate. I had never been so excited to fill out the questionnaire for Family Source. While I anxiously waited to hear back I was trying to get my ducks in a row. When I met with Zara for the first time, I knew more than ever this agency was the best fit for me. Shortly after meeting Zara she called me to let me know of a potential match. That potential match became “the one” and we have been family for over 5 years now.

Our first journey went very smoothly. I was extremely fascinated by the entire process and the different coordinating parts that made it all happen. Each step we completed was another step closer to making a family. The IVF transfer worked on the first try and I was pregnant with twins. During that first ultrasound when we found out it was twins, is a moment that will forever be in my memory. I have never seen two people so filled with emotion and thought how blessed I am to be a part of this.

On February 9, 2010, identical twin girls were born and a family was created. It was emotional all around. It was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever experienced. So amazing to be able to watch mom and dad surround their girls with love. Those adorable little girls are now 4. During the four years it has been absolutely indescribable watching this family grow and seeing how my IP’s dream of having a family came true.

We are currently nearing the end of our second journey. I am due March 29th with baby girl #3. This journey was much different than the first. We went through four IVF attempts with the fourth attempt being successful. I truly feel that this journey has brought us even closer together because of all we have gone through on this journey. We all experienced the heartache and determination of each failed transfer together but persevered because we all wanted it to happen so badly. Getting that positive pregnancy test and confirmation of heartbeat on the u/s was music to our ears. Seeing the twins so excited to meet their baby sister, is just another reason I feel so blessed to be able to be a Surrogate for such a wonderful family. We are all anxiously awaiting the birth of this special little girl!
