Q: What led you to become a Surrogate?
After watching two friends surrogacy journeys I knew it was something that I needed to do. I have a passion for birth, family/babies, and helping others. The three of those things combined just seem like the perfect fit for me.
Q. Who was/is your greatest support person/s throughout your journey?
There were SO many,do I have to narrow it down to just one? My husband would be the number one supporter. He’s my travel partner, my shot giver, and the best labor support I could ever ask for.
Q. What made you decide to choose your Intended Parents?
I saw their profile and knew they were the one! Watching their wedding video when I saw their profile had me in tears. I wanted to be there and meet their whole family. They just have amazing personalities and such kind hearts I couldn’t wait to watch them become fathers.
Q. What are some of the highlights of your journey?
Our journey was interesting once Covid started but I’m so thankful for everyone’s flexibility. My favorite parts of my journey were any time our families were able to spend time together. From med screening where we met for the first time. Transfer when we were all there excited for what the future held. The anatomy scan where they got to meet my kids for the first time. But my all-time favorite was labor when we were all excitedly waiting at the birth center. So many laughs and memories from that day.
Q. Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming a gestational surrogate?
Be patient and flexible. There is so much hurry up and wait so you have to be ok with sometimes just waiting. Things don’t always go as planned so flexibility is a must!
Q. What did you find was the biggest misconception people had about surrogacy?
That you become attached to the baby. That wasn’t the case at all for either of my journeys. I feel like a proud aunt and that I made lifelong friends.
