Hi my name is Emily. I am 24, married, am a mother to two beautiful babies and a stepmother to two wonderful children! Becoming a surrogate was never a question of -if- I would do it, but more of when. From the moment I had my first child I just knew in my heart I couldn’t imagine someone not being able to have that experience. I did want to wait and finish out my family, but just a few short months after having my baby boy, I knew the time was right!
Upon researching surrogacy agencies, I came across Family Source Consultants. After just a few minutes, I knew they were the ones I wanted to help me along with my journey. Everything was so personal, everyone was so quick to respond, I felt like they really cared about me!
I was very unsure of the exact details of the process, but surprisingly it moved fairly quickly. From the time I first contacted FSC, I was off to embryo transfer in just 4 months! Whoa, not only was my dream to help someone create a family coming true but a family was about to get the biggest blessing of their life!
I would say one of the hardest parts of my journey was what we all refer to as the “two week wait”! At this time your not suppose to test at home and wait for your blood results. I remember the call I got though on that 11th day after transfer saying my results were positive! It’s unlike any feeling I’ve ever felt. I had received positive tests before with my own, but a feeling of love, happiness and excitement came over me for someone else :)
I had the best experience throughout my journey. My husband by far was my biggest supporter. He was there for me every second of the journey, the ups and downs! I was also blessed with amazing IP’s who I would say spoiled me through the journey. They checked up on my almost everyday and sent many flowers to me!
My surro baby decided he was ready to come early and surprised us all! Going to the hospital seemed so surreal and I couldn’t believe just how quickly 9 months had went! My IP’s never left my side for even a minute that day! That was my favorite part of the journey. Seeing them welcome, and hold their baby for the first time! It made every shot, sleepless night, new stretch mark, any ache or pain just come full circle! They cried, they hugged me and just told me how much they appreciated me! It was never about appreciation for me though! The feeling I get to hold onto for the rest of my life is beyond words!
My advice for anyone wanting to become a surrogate is absolutely don’t wait! The chance to change someone’s life’s and give a life is amazing!
