Q: What led you to become a Surrogate?
To help others feel the love i felt and because i know God called and led me to do something and if it’s his will i’ll do it: to bring children to families who are deserving of it because everyone should experience the love of being a mom and dad!
Q. Who was the most significant support person throughout your journey?
My fiancée , Kamarrie and my children!
Q. What made you decide to choose your Intended Parents?
I read their profile but I prayed. I asked God to tell me is this who he choose for me to carry for. I sat on it and he answered me. I knew he was going to give them what they were deserving of, they were peaceful and kind and loving and you could see how long they waited for this.
Q. What are some of the highlights of your journey?
Knowing the parents was the biggest highlight: Megan and David gave me so much peace and love! They trusted me and i never had experienced that, they loved my children and family and just how they were: growing their daughter was the most rewarding thing i could have done. It truly led me to people who I never knew was missing from our lives!
Q. Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming a gestational surrogate?
To be patient, don’t settle and don’t rush it. Trust God in the process and allow yourself some grace when picking your family. And most of all if any moment doesn’t feel sincere it’s okay to back away.
Q. How do you feel about your experience working with Family Source Consultants?
I love Family Source; I love how my case manager never left; she answered everything. Didi, and Denise was there whenever and answered. I am grateful even after birth how they still check up on me i am grateful. Wonderful experience both times from family source but this time it was peaceful!
Q. What did you find was the biggest misconception people had about surrogacy?
That the baby was related to me: she wasn’t. People always thought i was giving up my own child and i had to explain it’s not my DNA.
Q. What would you like other people to know about surrogacy?
It is beautiful to watch families get their wish; to experience the love they have wanted. It does come with everything pregnancy has but the end part where you see their faces light up is truly the best part.
Q. What was the funniest/strangest/most common question you were asked and how did you answer?
Did I want to keep the baby, I always said no! Why would I want to keep a baby that isn’t mine..
Or was i attached to the baby; I answered I love her and want the best for her and her parents but I don’t want to keep her!
Q. How has becoming a surrogate impacted your life?
It has allowed me to see the struggles: it changed me to be better and to want to help and be more understanding.
Q. Was this pregnancy different than your other pregnancies? If so, how?
It was peaceful! I was sick but she just grew beautiful I was the most happiest and felt good this entire pregnancy.
Q. How did you prepare yourself for separating from the baby after birth?
I prayed while giving birthday and during labor; and I knew she was going to the best parents: they still update me and that has also given me peace.
Q. What would you like someone who is considering working with a surrogate to know?
Do not rush it!!!! Be patient!
