Do You Meet the Requirements to be a Surrogate?
You may qualify to become a Surrogate if you meet the following requirements:
- Resident of the United States
- Between the ages of 21-42
- Healthy overall
- Height-weight proportionate with BMI of 34 or less
- Have at least one child
- Have experienced a full-term pregnancy and delivery
- In a stable living situation
- Not on any form of state public assistance
- Not smoke or take illegal drugs
- Not have any psychiatric illness
- Enjoy pregnancy and are motivated by the wish to help others create or add to their family
Do You Know What the Surrogacy Process Entails?
There are 6 phases of the surrogacy process: Intake, Matching, Medical Screening, Legal Process, Embryo Transfer, then of course, Pregnancy & Birth.
The surrogacy journey begins with a matching process. Once you are matched with Intended Parents who meet all your specifications, the medical screening process will begin. Then onto legal, where you’ll sort out your contract and set expectations for your journey. Next comes the embryo transfer, which is of course followed by pregnancy and delivery.
What Are You Looking For in an Intended Parent(s)?
Some criteria that you’ll want to consider at the start of the matching process are:
- Would you like to match with a couple who is located in the United States or abroad?
- Are you interested in working with a same-sex couple?
- What is your stance on selective reduction/termination?
- Are you comfortable in transferring multiple (two) embryos?
