Meet Keirra!

“My intended parents I think was what made this process so great. Like we have a genuine relationship now.

Keirra is an amazing surrogate that delivered an adorable baby girl for our intended parents in late July 2026.

Q: What led you to become a Surrogate?

So I have had so many friends that wanted kids and weren’t able to have kids. One of them we were good friends and co-teachers for three years and she did everything by the book. She went to college, meet her husband, got married, finished school and bought a house, then they tried to have a baby and they found out they couldn’t have a baby. I felt so bad for them and then within like a month I got pregnant with my son and I felt guilty even though I knew it wasn’t my fault but I just wished I could give her a baby. This was before I really knew that, that was actually a possibility. Fast forward to 8 years later, I kept seeing ads about being a surrogate, and I kept wondering why do I keep seeing this and I finally brought it up to my husband asking what he thought about it. He said well you had good pregnancy go for it. I said I will fill out the application who knows I probably won’t qualify. But here we are! I prayed daily to make sure this was something God would bless me to do and he clearly saw this was fit for me to do.

Q. Who was the most significant support person throughout your journey?

My husband was my main supporter. He was the one who helped me with the shots, he took me to my appointments and he was there for me when I didn’t think I could keep going through third trimester. My kids were also very good little supporter, they were there by my side every step of the way, rather if it was just getting me water or my middle child would walk by my side when I couldn’t sleep at night, she wanted to make sure I was ok. My son wanted to help me when I would try and get a video of the baby moving inside so I could send it to the parents. My oldest helped when we made a gender reveal video for the parents. Everyone in my family played a part.

Q. What made you decide to choose your Intended Parents?

As I was looking through the profiles, the couple I chose was because reading their answers I could relate and I could feel good energy through their answers I could tell they answered each question thoroughly. I could tell that they weren’t just concerned about like me birthing their child, like they also wanted to make sure I was ok too. They mentioned liking Harry Potter and me and my husband like Harry Potter and their little girl liked Bluey and my family watches Bluey too. Then when we did the virtual call, we were talking and it wasn’t awkward it was genuine conversation and we have the same beliefs in God also was a number one for us. We just really clicked. Nothing was ever forced.

Q. What are some of the highlights of your journey?

My intended parents I think was what made this process so great. Like we have a genuine relationship now and it never felt like a transaction. I also learned a lot about the process of being a surrogate and I feel like there is so many people out there who really don’t understand the process and how it all works and I feel like now I could be advocate for it now. I also have met some incredible women through this process and to be apart of that group of women, who have experience this journey is something that no one else would understand.

Q. Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming a gestational surrogate?

Make sure you are doing it for the right reasons and make sure you really read through the profiles and ask questions before you make your choice. Also listen to your body. Make sure you really have support as well. Prepare your family as well, because they are on this journey with you.

Q. How do you feel about your experience working with Family Source Consultants?

FSC is a good company to use going through this process, there are so many people who you can reach out to that will help you, or they will figure out whatever they can to help. I also listened to the podcast before I started the journey, so you can hear other’s stories and hear what to expect going through the process. Then they have the Facebook group where you find ladies who are going through the same things or they have experienced something and they are there for you, encouraging you and cheering you on. It’s just a beautiful experience.

Q. What would you like other people to know about surrogacy?

It isn’t just a simple task, it definitely involves everyone if you have a family. So make sure you and your family are really ready to take on this journey and advocate for your family. Like I have younger children and I knew it was important for them to see the full picture from beginning to end so they could understand what I did for a family.

Q. What did you find was the biggest misconception people had about surrogacy?

Oh my this one is hard for so many people. Carrying for a different race and so people think will won’t the baby be mixed or darker because I carried their child. They just can’t rap their minds around someone of a different race giving birth to a child of a different race. So I had to explain that I am just a vessel, the child isn’t mines and will not have none of my DNA.

Q. What was the funniest/strangest/most common question you were asked and how did you answer?

So of course people would automatically be like congratulations to me and my husband and this was at church, and my husband says “oh it’s not my child, but we are dealing with it” / shaking my head / he thinks he is a funny guy. Then I would explain I am a surrogate.

Q. How has becoming a surrogate impacted your life?

Honestly I feel like a bad ass lol I didn’t think I would have a baby after being 30 so for me to give birth to health baby for someone else at 36 I feel pretty good. I feel like I could do anything. And I feel like I showed my kids how to be able to help someone else in need.

Q. How did you prepare yourself for separating from the baby after birth?

I always referred to the baby as theirs and corrected anyone who would say or assume it was mines. I prayed through the whole experience. Idk I just never felt like I had a bond or anything to the baby. And once I seen the baby with her family I was so happy for them.

Q. Was this pregnancy different than your other pregnancies? If so, how?

Yes it was different, I think mainly because I am older. It was a struggle at some points. I was convinced at the beginning that I was carrying a boy but it was a girl. Me and the intended mom thought it was a boy. Based on my carvings and the heart rate. I also never really had contractions with my kids like I did with their baby, so that was different and I also never felt my water break with my kids and I never cut my kids cord but I cut their baby’s cord.

Q. What would you like someone who is considering working with a surrogate to know?

Make sure you are sure about it. Do your research.

Q. Is there anything else you’d like to share with us regarding your experience as a Surrogate?

This was a wonderful experience and eye opening for me and others in my family who just didn’t really understand how this process works. I have great IP’s who I think we are bonded for like now. I feel thankful that I was able to do this for a family.
