Meet Victoria!
“[Surrogacy] is the most emotional thing I have ever done. The feelings that it gave me were more than I had expected to feel. I made a huge and amazing part of their lives and they are now such a big part of mine. I would hope it would be just as rewarding for others.”
Q: What led you to become a Surrogate?
My sister was unable to have children after complications with her first and only child. I wish I would have been older to do it for her.
Q. Who was/is your greatest support person/s throughout your journey?
My mother and my children. They were over the moon about giving a baby to a family that couldn’t have one on their own.
Q. What made you decide to choose your Intended Parents?
They just seemed like good people and after meeting them I knew they would be wonderful parents.
Q. What are some of the highlights of your journey?
Seeing the glow of their faces when they saw their child for the first time. The look of awe and the proud feeling I got from my children for what I was doing.
Q. Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming a gestational surrogate?
[Surrogacy] is the most emotional thing I have ever done. The feelings that it gave me were more than I had expected to feel. I made a huge and amazing part of their lives and they are now such a big part of mine. I would hope it would be just as rewarding for others.
Q. What did you do to prepare yourself for separating from the baby after it was born?
I just kept telling myself (and everyone who asked) that this child was meant to bring happiness to someone else’s life. I was just there to make sure that got to experience all the joys I already had the privilege to have in my life.
Q. How has becoming a surrogate impacted your life?
I feel like I have done something wonderful with my life that most people wouldn’t even consider. Being able to give my intended parents someone to love as I love my children was the most rewarding thing I have done for someone else.
