This month we would like to feature “M”!

“Being a medical student, I have seen the suffering many families go through on the road to becoming parents. I’ve always wanted to be an egg donor since the age of 20, but was scared to actually take the plunge.

After dedicating the last 6 years of my life to helping others, egg donation was a new, special way I could give back. I’ll admit, I am 25 years old, and as much as I love kids, I’m not sure motherhood is ever going to be in the cards for me, having such a busy career. I almost felt guilty at one point for having these feelings, after seeing the damage and emotional turmoil infertility can cause. My deciding point was the day I realized this would be a decision I would never regret, even with the risks, I could never regret a decision I make to help someone else.

To be a patient, on the other side of medicine, was an invaluable experience. I witnessed first-hand how long this process actually is, and how much effort is required on both sides, the paperwork, the waiting, not to mention the shots. Everything became real to me after I was told the eggs taken were successfully fertilized! That type of happiness for someone else is such a pure, amazing feeling.

Egg donation is a selfless act, but I learned so much from this experience. In the future, after going through this process, I hope to be able to help, and council couples with their fertility issues, and help them find happiness. I am forever thankful to everyone at Family Source Consultants who have made this process so easy and comfortable for me!”
