Q: What led you to become a Surrogate?
I am adopted, and my own adoptive mother struggled with infertility issues. She doesn’t talk about it much, but I know how difficult that was for her. When I found out about surrogacy, I knew I had to help other women like my own mother who want to have a baby of their own. My own children mean the world to me and I wanted to help a mother and father experience that love.
Q. Who was/is your largest support person/s throughout your journey?
My husband. Without him none of this would have happened. He was there for me through all the hormone injections, the miscarriage, the transfers. Everything. He was so supportive and helped me make my Intended Parent’s dream come true. It was a two-year process, and he never once doubted me or the journey.
Q. What made you decide to choose your Intended Parents?
I initially chose another couple but they didn’t choose me. After meeting the intended parents I worked with the first time though, I knew we were a perfect match. They had been trying and waiting for so long, and were so excited to finally begin a journey. Also, they were willing to have a relationship after delivery, and that was important to me.
Q. What are some of the highlights of your journey?
My intended parents sent me some sweet gifts throughout my journey. I really loved spending two weeks with them before baby was born, too. The biggest highlight was obviously delivering their precious baby girl into their loving arms.
Q. Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming a gestational surrogate?
It isn’t an easy or quick process. It will take time and lots of patience, and it’s best to understand that up front.
Q. How has becoming a surrogate impacted your life?
Surrogacy impacted my life forever. I helped create a family, and honestly that is THE greatest moment I could have ever been a part of.
