Meet Christy!

I had nothing but a great experience working with FSC, from my initial intake application to the very end; everyone I spoke with was very pleasant and informative.

Christy is a beautiful gestational surrogate who delivered a baby boy for a family in June 2023.

Q: What led you to become a Surrogate?

I’ve always loved being pregnant and being a mother, it was something I always wanted to do. I wanted to be able to help someone feel the joy I felt of being a parent. I didn’t really know the process of how to get started, until one day I knew someone who became a surrogate with FSC, so I was able to get more information. I also had my tubes tied so I didn’t think I was able to even do it. Once I contacted FSC myself, I got all the answers I needed and was even more eager to start a journey, especially after my last delivery was 19 years ago. To think I could be pregnant again was exciting to me.

Q. Who was the most significant support person throughout your journey?

My husband was my biggest support for sure, I will say my case manager was great as well and always there when I needed her as well as my IP’s. I grew such a great relationship with them. They were very involved in the whole process and I loved how natural it became or us to talk about anything and everything regarding the pregnancy or how I felt, physically, mentally, and emotionally!

Q. What made you decide to choose your Intended Parents?

Once I read the profile on my IP’s I felt I was reading something on myself. Our personalities were so similar in so many ways. We had so much in common too. I felt like I knew them already. The smile on my face only got bigger and bigger the more I read about them; I knew in my heart they were the parents I want to carry a baby for.

Q. What are some of the highlights of your journey?

I absolutely loved every part of my journey. I will say some of my favorite parts was being able to message my IP’s for the 1st time after contracts were signed, to meeting them in person for the 1st time too. I loved how involved they were with me that the miles we had in between each other didn’t even matter. It was also an amazing day when they were with me at my 20 [week] anatomy scan and found out they were having a baby boy. The excitement on their face only made me more happy to have started this journey. The biggest highlight I will say was right after I delivered and watching them hold their baby boy for the 1st time. Knowing I was part of making them become a family made my heart full.

Q. Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming a gestational surrogate?

Just do it! Don’t wait! Ask the questions you want answers to, get on the internet and start researching it. One day it might be too late. I wish I did this years ago to be able to get a few journeys done, but I will be forever grateful I was able to fulfill my dream and do one.

Q. How do you feel about your experience working with Family Source Consultants?

I had nothing but a great experience working with FSC, from my initial intake application to the very end; everyone I spoke with was very pleasant and informative. [My case manager] was the best, she has a special place in my heart. She made me feel like I was never a bother to her, anytime I needed her she was there. She always made me feel like I was her only client. She truly is amazing.

Q. What did you find was the biggest misconception people had about surrogacy?

I think many people think you are giving up your own baby, but you’re not.

Q. What would you like other people to know about surrogacy?

It’s a long process, there are things that will come up that’s out of your control but it’s worth it in the end. Need to stay relaxed and have patience and lots of faith.

Q. How has becoming a surrogate impacted your life?

It made me more appreciative of the four kids I gave birth to for myself. I was blessed not to ever have any struggles getting pregnant or going full term and delivering healthy babies. I never realized how many woman struggle with fertility issues, or how many couples out there who really want a baby of their own but can’t without a surrogate. I feel extremely proud of myself for putting my everyday life on hold for about a year and [a] half to make someone else’s dreams come true!
