I’m Laura, a busy wife and a mother to 6 crazy wild children. I live in Florida with my four boys (ages 14, 11, 7, & 4), two girls (ages 6 & 2) and my husband. I have always enjoyed being pregnant. After watching many of my family members struggle with infertility issues for years, about 5 years ago, I was easily inspired to become a Surrogate. By the time that I finished having all my own kids, those family members had children of their own. But I still wanted to help others that have been struggling on that heartbreaking path.

One day I was on Facebook and saw that Family Source Consultants had posted in a local mom’s group. They were looking for Surrogates! I was immediately drawn to the conversation. They were incredible from the beginning with answering all my questions and concerns. I’m so glad they found me because I wouldn’t have known where to even start.

Once I started my journey, I had concerns like many other Surrogates do at the beginning. I was very unsure of how I would feel carrying someone else’s baby? Would I become attached to the baby? What others would think of me doing this? All those questions worked themselves out as the journey progressed with the help of my amazing coordinator, Ronda. She was there for me every step of the way.

My mother surprisingly became my biggest support person throughout my journey. She was the person who originally was so against me becoming a Surrogate because she felt like I would be taking away from my own family. Now that I have finished this first journey those thoughts and concerns of hers couldn’t be more incorrect. My mother now agrees that this has been an amazing blessing for us all.

I chose my Intended Parents after Family Source consultants sent me their profile. Their clinic approved me as a Surrogate and then we met through Skype. I had reviewed a few other profiles before theirs, but none of them clicked for me. I’m so glad that I chose these Intended Parents because they are amazing! I knew within the first two minutes of our Skype meeting that they were the couple I was going to carry a child for. I prayed that they would agree and liked me too. We couldn’t have been matched any better. Family Source Consultants matched us so perfectly!!!

Being a Surrogate was different than my own pregnancies because instead of feeling excited about a baby kick, you’re immediately excited to share the news of the kick with the parents. It’s been an exciting experience. My only complaint is that it all went by so fast. Being a Surrogate was so much more than I could have ever imagined. I have built a forever friendship with an amazing couple and given them the biggest joy of their lives. I’m most surprised of how proud of myself I am. I never in a million years could have dreamed that I could have done something so amazing. If you’re thinking about possibly becoming a Surrogate then don’t hesitate, because it will be an amazing ride of a lifetime!
