Meet S!

“Being an egg donor is an incredibly fulfilling experience. Knowing that you are able to help others overcome obstacles to be able to create the family they so desire is a feeling unlike any other. “

Q. What led you to become an Egg Donor?

My journey of becoming an egg donor began at a point in my life when I was going through some big personal life changes. When I ran across the idea, it was a no-brainer for me. I come from a very large blended family and have siblings who are biological, half, step, and adopted. It seemed like a natural step for me to help others create the family they would love to have, especially when I very well understand the value of family.

Q. Who offered the most support throughout your journey?

Without a doubt, my husband and my grandma have been my biggest supporters. My husband didn’t bat an eye when I told him about being an egg donor and has been by my side for all three of the donations I have completed. He even goes so far as to give me the injections each night of my cycle! My grandma helped me with my initial application and keeps up with my journey to this day.

Q. What made you decide to be closed/semi-open/open with your intended parents?

I have chosen to leave the level of openness for my donations up to the Intended Parents. I feel the journey is much more about them and their family than it is about me, so I want to be able to offer whatever level of involvement they feel best fits their situation.

Q. Do you have any advice for women who are interested in becoming an Egg Donor?

Being an egg donor is an incredibly fulfilling experience. Knowing that you are able to help others overcome obstacles to be able to create the family they so desire is a feeling unlike any other. My advice if you are interested in becoming a donor…  ask the questions, make sure it’s the right fit for you. If it is, take the leap. There’s an amazing support system through Family Source Consultants who will guide you the whole way. And even better, there’s a family at the other side who will be forever grateful for your contribution.
