Meet Jace!
“I think [surrogacy] just opened a whole new side of me, and makes me feel a little more joy and blessing all around because of the miracles.”
Jace is a first-time gestational surrogate who delivered a baby boy for a family in 2022.
Q: What led you to become a Surrogate?
I wanted to help a family bring a bundle of joy into the world. After seeing how hard it is for some people, I knew I wanted to help.
Q. Who was your greatest support person throughout your journey?
My husband and my family were a great support throughout my journey.
Q. What made you decide to choose your Intended Parents?
When we had our zoom meeting, I felt like we had an instant connection. We had very similar interests, and they were very kind.
Q. What are some of the highlights of your journey?
Being able to experience a whole different way of pregnancy than I ever have before. I was able to carry a baby for someone else, that was not DNA related, is a really cool process all on its own!
Q. Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming a gestational surrogate?
I only suggest (when it comes to contract time) that they follow what they know their body can do, even though every pregnancy is different, it’s their body, and while yes, you are carrying someone else’s baby, don’t just give into everything, stick to your roots/wants and give a little push back. Also, make sure during your matching process you ask every question, and you get every aspect of everything you want to know about someone to make sure they are a perfect match to make it an excellent journey. Finally, enjoy it. Because, as with everything else in life, it goes by quickly.
Q. How has becoming a surrogate impacted your life?
I believe surrogacy has impacted my life by showing me what parents who struggle to conceive on their own actually go through. We all think we know, but the IVF process is a tough one, especially when they go through it multiple times with no success. I feel for them, and for that, I give them extra respect. I think it just opened a whole new side of me and makes me feel a little more joy and blessing all around because of the miracles.
Q. How was this pregnancy different from your other pregnancies?
This pregnancy was different than my others for a couple of reasons. I had to be monitored more often because it was an IVF process, my water broke all on its own, and I delivered at 37 weeks!
